From Hell (The Synopsis)

August 1888. The Whitechapel area. A woman, Mary Ann Nichols returned with the other prostitutes but she met on her way a tall dark man… It’s the beginning of the case “Jack the Ripper”.

The first interesting point in my opinion is the choice for Jack the Ripper of prostitutes. Why are they all prostites and in the same age? Why Mary Jane Kelly’s murder is so different and so young than the other? These all questions have different answers but for me, the murder of Mary Jane Kelly is different  simply because Jack the Ripper wanted to mark forever his murders. The choice of the prostitutes is perhaps linked to for women (perhaps he was homosexual). But il could be to catch a secret like in “From Hell” where the prostitutes were killed because they knew the relation between the son of the queen and an ex-prostitute…
Then, the horror, the mean the victims were discovered is an other important point of the case. These murders have inspired the terror in london. For another time, Jack the Ripper wanted to mark his time and his name. The victims were discovered with incisions, intestines out of her body, female organs removed, throat cut, mutilated… Jack the Ripper was surely the first very bloody serial killer.
The suspects are an other mysterious part of the case. So, the characteristic of this case is that we don’t know surely who was the murderer… (or the murderers). Police have suspected lots of people (lawyer, doctor, sailor, mentally ill person…). But according to the doctors who have examined the corpses, the precision of the incisions should be made by a person who have study medecine, so a doctor. That’s why i think the theory of the royal conspiraty is the most probable because murders mhave made by several people  and especially by doctor(s).
And the final and interesting point of the case is the Jack Ripper’s letters. Why has he write these letters ? Perhaps  he wanted to justify his murders ? The letters intriged lots of people and different theories were born to answer this mystery.
So, this case have a particular focus because the idea of a serial killer is new for most people (the murders, the cruauty, the victims…) The fact we don’t know now who was the murderer strike people too and finally the different letters of Jack the Ripper.

Opinion on "All the cool kids are quitting Facebook"

Facebook also can ruin someone’s relationship such as the relationship between woman and her closest friends just because one small matter. Trust is the most important thing that contribute to this kind of issue. Amanda Lenhart, who had study research on teenagers, children and families at the Pew Internet and American Life Project said that people who used Facebook tend to have general sense of others and also institutions or organization. People made decison to not use Facebook because they afraid about the effects of Facebook towards them.

In this excerpt, the author Jenna Worthham tells a lot of reason why people should quitting facebook. Facebook holds a lot of reason for us to quit suing it, there are several factors that we should think about. The most concern factor that we should look is the privacy, Facebook doesn't give a steel privacy for us the users other people may and will look at our profile sometimes condemning if there something wrong with our our profile.
.

The risk of being hacked by other are also the major factor that we should concern about. Maybe there are certain people that are not satisfied with our post or comment and they hired a hacker to hack our account, they may use our account to do some dirty work such as they post some nasty things and other people might think that is us posting it and other perception toward us will be bad.

My perception toward "The Value of Television"

Paul Robinson teaches history at Stanford University, specializing in modern European intellectual history. This is an excerpt from his award winning essay, which hereceived from the American Conservative Union.

this excerpt is basically about the value of television in which in Paul Robinson point of view that educational programmed on Television cannot conduct a mental debate which is a very important process in learning and the worst thing on television is educational TV because it make the victim uneducable. Paul Robinson also stated that the only reason for TV is to entertain and the most popular programmed nowadays is to watch unintelligent show. His last objection on the topic is that television can only entertain.

It is said that television corrupted the mid of the watcher by showing violent program especially children, they are easily influence by what they seen. In the other hand although there are many shows that seems to have good benefits to us, we're easily believe with what the television showed and tells us for example, when we watch a show that related to our living style, surely without any doubt we follow its instruction.

Thinking Folly

This article exposes how the manners of thinking touch the quality of people’s attitude. The extract by Eckhart Tolle also highlighted some magnitudes of creative thinking and what kind of barriers or grounds that seizes in our minds. Everyone lives in a state of ostensible detach in complicated world of divergence and dilemmas. When people think, an opaque screen of concepts would be created which means that the illusion of separateness between people themselves would be exist. Thus, all the judgments, labels and words that block the true relationship will be divided into few bonds. They are people and themselves, people and nature, and people and God. Mind is just like a survival machine. It does a lot of things such analyzing, storing, gathering information and attack or defense again another minds.
Conflict and problem infinitely cycles into our daily life create an illusion of separateness that makes us thinker felt not believing into reality although life is happening right in front of us. According to the figure as shown in the excerpt “Thinking Folly”, Albert Einstein posed himself by sticking out his tongue towards the camera. This picture is showing that he was trying to portray himself as an astute clown which means the smart “ass” clown. Although he often used a sense of humor during his pose or his conversation, yet he stills a genius.

The Factors That Made Jack The Ripper Case Famous

The Jack the Ripper murders occurred in the East End of London in 1888 and, although the Whitechapel Murderer was only a threat to a very small section of the community in a relatively small part of London, the murders had a huge impact on society as a whole.

Several factors combined to help make this series of crimes famous all over the world. Not least amongst them was the fact that the newspapers of the day gave a huge amount of coverage to the crimes and provided their readers with daily updates on them with the result that Jack the Ripper effectively became a menacing media figure.
The area in which the killings occurred was perceived as being a hotbed of vice and villainy, and a breeding ground for social unrest, squalor and disease. The Whitechapel Murderer, in the eyes of the wider Victorian society, came to be seen as the personification of all the evils with which the East End of London was associated.
There was, of course, the name by which the killer came to be known - Jack the Ripper. It was this name - which was probably the invention of a journalist - that had the effect of turning five sordid East End murders into an international phenomenon and of catapulting the unknown miscreant responsible into the realm of legend.

Video Games Affect the Brain

Video gamers, parents, politicians and the press often lionize or attack video games, which opens the door to spin that obfuscates our understanding of how these games affect people. For example, the European Parliament has been debating whether to limit children’s access to video games. In a press statement about the report that resulted from its deliberations, the parliament concluded that games could have “harmful effects on the minds of children.” Reporting on this statement, however, the headline in the Guardian read, “Video games are good for children.”
Psychologists and neuroscientists conducting well-designed studies are beginning to shed light on the actual effects of video games. These studies show a clear trend: Games have many consequences in the brain, and most are not obvious—they happen at a level that overt behaviors do not immediately reflect. Because the effects are subtle, many people think video games are simply benign entertainment.
Research projects of variable strength have substantiated claims of both beneficial and harmful effects. Too often the discussion ends there in a “good” versus “evil” battle, reminiscent of the plots of the violent video games themselves.
In the article, the author had implemented many researches from scientist from all aspect of games. The author told that in this article scientist had found out that video games are like a natural teacher that provided with knowledge and immediate feedback on the players achievement by giving them punishment or reward, video games also assist in learning at different levels, it also give the player the chance to practice until they became master at a certain point. The author also said that playing action video games can improve one’s visual on the computer screen. Research suggests that playing video games can lead to different types of benefits “a 2002 U.S. Department of Education report presented evidence on the effectiveness of educational games. One neuroscience study, published in Nature, showed that playing action video games can improve visual attention to the periphery of a computer screen.” (Video Games Affect the Brain—for Better and Worse by Douglas A. Gentile). The article also purposed that different type of games also had different type of effect which is include good and bad effect.

So Called "Frenemies"

The article “Fickle Friends by Kristen Weir” exposed about what “Frenemies” can be bad for our health, but understanding these taxing relationships can make them less painful. From this article, Kristen Weir the author explain about how the scientist’s research prove that by compromising and understanding the situation a person can reduce the effect of having these “frenemies”. The author also said that many of the people nowadays are rather to keep this “Frenemies” as their friend, it is because their long relationship. We can still keep this kind of relationship but first we must learn how to control our own self.

In the article, the author told that these types of “Frenemies” are usually friends that when we are in trouble they would sacrifice everything to help us up but at the end they gossip about us. They also sometimes boost us up with encouragement and they also bring us down after that. They likely give us full support when we are in love quarrel but at the end they flittering with our ex. We humans are known as the social species, we cannot live without socialize, sometimes friends does give us difficulties and that causes depression, hypertension. This article also told about how researcher conduct an experiment to determine how social interaction effect the blood pressure, the blood pressure rise when people meet with individual meet with ambivalent friends rather than supportive friend.

Friend is the person that will always support us no matter how hard the situation. Friends will always helping us in time that we need them the most; they are always by our side when our family cannot be there for us. Friends will throw everything that they had only for helping us, they will never leave us alone. These types of friends are willingly to burden very each of our problem onto their own shoulders so that we can feel at ease. Having “frenemies” can affect ones life if not controlled. “Frenemies” can sometimes bring depression for person when they are not aware of it, it is also can cause one to feel irritated and thus affect one surrounding. People perception towards friend of “frenemies” as they continue being friend. People will think that the person is a fool of letting “frenemies” lingering around. “frenemies” sometimes cause people to create a gap between the person because of what the “frenemies” did.
